Proceed With Emotion

Early 95 UK write up
Submitted by Corey

Jeff Buckley's voice does strange things to his fans: they cry, fall to their knees, sway hypnotically-or do all the above. The voice, an instrument that floats from an ethereal wail to a guttural cry, and a range that takes him, in a typical set, from Mahalia Jackson to Led Zeppelin, has vaulted the American singer's debut album, Grace, to the top of many Best of 94 lists. Buckley, 28, who starts a European tour this month, likens his audiences' reaction to another intense joining: "Anybody who's made love knows what it means to make art, to have people stripped of their ego and shame, making a moment from nothing."
